If you're new to our church, Welcome! Here's some basic information to help you find out more about us.

We hope you'll fill out a Connect Card--they are available at the reception desk in our gathering space.  Or email or call, whatever
works best for you. That way we can tell you more about us, and let you know what's happening in our newsletter and special events mailings.  Just let us know the best way to reach you and what you're interested in hearing from us.

Baptisms
If you have a newborn child whom you would like baptized, contact Pastor Flathmann at (612) 729-2323, extension 12--or email pastor@lakenokomis.org.

Hand bell choir
The church organized a hand bell choir in the fall of 2005.  If you are interested in participating, contact Director of Music Jodi Gustafson.
 
Bible study
Bible studies are offered periodically from September through May. Contact Erica Larson to get connected and/or learn about our different groups elarson@lakenokomis.org.

Bibles
If you do not own a Bible, some are available in the sanctuary pews.  Also, you may obtain one from the church office.

Building rentals
If you are interested in utilizing rooms at the church, contact the office at (612) 729-2323 or e-mail office@lakenokomis.org.

Choirs for children and adults
Our choral groups include choirs for children and adults.  If you would like more information about choirs, contact Director of Music Jodi Gustafson at (612) 729-2323.

For information on confirmation classes, contact Director of Faith Formation, Erica Larson.

We're Fully Accessible--Elevators & Restrooms
An elevator serving all levels of the church and education wing is located in the hallway next to the garden court between the sanctuary and education wing. Wheelchair accessible restrooms are on the main floor of the church..

Faith and Life Forum
On most Sundays at 9:15 a.m. in the Bethel Room on the lower level, a presentation on a timely topic is offered.  Details on upcoming forums are in the bulletin, newsletter and on the church website.

Financial offerings
You will receive offering envelopes with your new membership material.  If you have questions about your giving, you may contact Financial Administrator, Joanne Billmeier at (612) 729-2323. 

First aid
First aid kits are available in the coatroom next to the narthex, the church office workroom, and the main kitchen on the lower level.  If you experience a medical problem during a worship service, contact an usher immediately. We also have a defibrillator near our office door in our Gathering space.

Food shelf donations
Members of the congregation are invited to bring in donations of groceries for our neighborhood food shelf, which operates out of Minnehaha United Methodist Church.

Funerals
When you experience a death in your family, please contact one of our pastors as soon as possible so that they may be of assistance to you during this difficult time.  If you would like to assist with serving meals following funerals, contact the church office.

Health needs
We have a parish nurse, Barb Tauferner, who along with other members of the health cabinet, keeps in contact with people who are dealing with health issues.  Please call the church office if you would like to be contacted by someone on our health ministry tream.

Library
Our library is located on the south side of the main building, adjacent to Keewaydin Avenue.  Numerous books and periodicals for both adults and children may be checked out.  For more information, contact Carol Ivens at (612) 727-3982.

Loaves and Fishes
Several times a year (on any month having a fifth Monday), members of Lake Nokomis Lutheran Church cook and serve a meal at a Loaves and Fishes site, St. Stephen’s Catholic School.  If you would like to be a part of this ministry, contact Diane Slovik at (952) 893-1228.

Meals on Wheels
Every nine weeks, volunteers from Lake Nokomis Lutheran Church deliver Meals on Wheels in south Minneapolis.  If you would like to assist, contact the church office.

Nursery
A nursery is available on most Sunday mornings during the 10:30 a.m. worship service.  It is located next to the family room behind the church office.

Prayer chain
If you know anyone who needs pastoral care (anyone sick, grieving, needing comfort or spiritual direction), please contact the church office.  Our church has a “Prayer Chain” that can be used for prayers. To activate the prayer chain, call Kathy Schou at (701) 260-8091 with your request.  Soon, others will join in prayer for your concern.  Details about any situation are kept confidential.

Worship assistants
If you would like to participate in our worship services, serving as a lector, usher, communion assistant, van driver, altar guild member, or greeter, please contact the church office at (612) 729-2323.

Sunday school
If you have youth whom you would like enrolled in our Sunday school, contact Erica Larson in the church office. Erica is available afternoons Monday through Thursday and on Sunday mornings.

Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is offered each summer for a week during the evening.

Weddings
Weddings are scheduled through the church office, (612) 729-2323.  Becky Dowzak serves as our wedding coordinator. 

Worship
Sunday worship is at 8 and 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary between September and May.  During the education hour between worship, an education hour for all ages is available. Summer worship is at 9:30 a.m.

Youth ministry
If you would like to get your children involved in our youth programs, contact Director of Faith Formation, Erica Larson at elarson@lakenokomis.org.  In addition to Sunday school, we offer faith formation and education opportunities through Confirmation, The Deep End, CLASH (Christ Loves All Senior High) TIM (Teens in Ministry) Team, Bible Camp and mission trips. We also seek to involve our youth in the whole life of the congregationthrough involvement in worship, leadership roles, servant events and intergenerational opportunities.
