Musician 10-12 hours per week
The musician helps develop and lead the worship music ministry for worship services, in consultation with the pastor and other team members, in a way that is consistent with the mission, values, and theology of the church community, and as a thoughtful leader of congregational song as first priority.
Reports to senior pastor
Salary range: 12-14k
Director of Ensembles 5-7 hours per week
The director of ensembles helps develop and lead the worship music ministry for the church, in consultation with the pastor and other team members, in a way that is consistent with the mission, values, and theology of the church community.

Musician 10-12 hours per week
The musician helps develop and lead the worship music ministry for worship services, in consultation with the pastor and other team members, in a way that is consistent with the mission, values, and theology of the church community, and as a thoughtful leader of congregational song as first priority.
- Lead congregational/liturgical singing with organ, piano, and/or other instruments in a range of styles (inc. traditional hymnody, folk, jazz, gospel, world music, etc.)
- Prepare and offer preludes, postludes, meditation music, etc. for worship. Be familiar with a variety of sung liturgies.
- Work with Pastor and Worship Planning Team to plan weekly worship.
- Assist with bulletin production - gather title/composer/lyric/copyright information for all music and acquire music digital graphic for print.
- Accompany Adult Choir and other ensembles for both rehearsals and worship.
- Recruit and nurture instrumentalists and singers of all ages and help them contribute to worship.
- Select and play appropriate music for weddings and funerals, as needed, in consultation with families and Pastor.
- Research and utilize creative resources to enhance the worship experience.
- Maintain personal, professional competence through regular music practice.
- Periodically enhance professional and liturgical education through reading, workshops, conferences, private study, etc. as allowed by the budget and approval of the Worship Planning Team.
- Coordinate instrument maintenance with the building manager.
- Arrange for qualified substitute musicians when gone.

- Plan the music for and direct the Choir, Handbell Choir, and small groups to assist in leading worship.
- Lead rehearsals each week during the regular choir and handbell season.
- As needed, coordinate with the Musician regarding accompanying ensembles.
- Recruit musicians for ensembles and small groups.
- Periodically enhance professional and liturgical education through reading, workshops, conferences, private study, etc. as allowed by the budget and approval of the Worship Planning Team.
- Arrange for a qualified substitute director when gone.

- Offer meaningful gatherings that are sacred, artistic, insightful and innovative. At the same time, maintain the important traditions that speak powerfully to the human experience. Connect the sacred to everyday life in accessible and meaningful ways.
- Create Sunday morning worship experiences with direct application to daily life.
- Create a worship planning team with lay participation.
- Commit to a long-range plan for worship themes, holiday celebrations, and coordination with the worship environment team.
- Make use of our abundant musical resources with specific attention to special music, children/youth opportunities, and regular use of instrumentation that enhances the worship experience.
- Commission a worship experimentation team that would develop and implement new ideas to deepen faith connections and energy.
- Be intentional about regularly trying new things in worship.
- Develop new ideas for telling the story and engaging in prayer.
- Keep an eye toward being accessible to both visitors and long-time members.
- Continue our Worship Environment team, empowering them to develop visual art and interactive projects that deepen and enhance our worship gatherings.
