Christmas Eve Family Worship!
Since we can’t be in person for our Christmas Eve Family Worship service, we’re putting together a pre-recorded video led by our children and youth! Here are all the ways they can participate:
For questions about virtual choir, contact Nissa Rolf: [email protected].
For questions about all other aspects of Christmas worship, contact Deacon Erica Larson: [email protected].
Please fill out this Google Form to participate in Christmas Eve Family Worship: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfEUiPgWAW3IuS1Ks_dC4c4shTsc8E8sAO7BXft1SX5K2bSiA/viewform?usp=sf_link
Here are the instructions for your "Go Tell it on the Mountain" submission videos!
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
STEPS:
Rehearse:
1.Learn and practice the song, then move on to recording.
2.Use this action/recording guide video to rehearse and record: https://youtu.be/5hDCNh6bcSc
Record:
1.Set up DEVICE 1 at eye level and ensure that there is enough room to see your child do the actions when you record (both sides and above the head).
2.If using a phone, record HORIZONTALLY (Landscape). You can either hold the device yourself or use a tripod. (A stable stack of books on a table works, too!)
3.Set up the video to be played on DEVICE 2 while listening through headphones: https://youtu.be/5hDCNh6bcSc
4.Start recording on DEVICE 1.
5.Play the video on DEVICE 2. It will prompt the singer to clap on camera at the beginning. Please have them clap quickly in front of their face, and return their hands to their sides. This will help Nissa align the videos later.
Submit:
1.Once you are happy with the video, please name it: Child’sFirstLastName_GoTell
2.Then, upload it to this Google Form link: https://forms.gle/Xvo5MdQFsoRYTwzZ9
3.If you have trouble submitting through the form, you can also email it to Nissa: [email protected]
4.We would like to have all videos submitted no later than MONDAY, DECEMBER 7TH so that we’ll have enough time to put the whole video together.
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT WHEN YOU RECORD:
We are excited to have our children and youth tell the Christmas story like they do every year! It’s a different kind of year, but it’s the same hope-filled story!
- Color a nativity scene and submit it to the church office by Monday, Dec. 14.
- Record children saying “Merry Christmas” and youth saying “Welcome to worship.” Email recordings to [email protected].
- Preschool – 6th grade children participate in a special Kids Zoom on Sunday, Dec. 13, 9:15am where we will record children reading the Christmas story. We will assign readings after you sign up. Children can join the Zoom meeting even if they aren’t doing a reading because we’ll have some actions. Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82433144744?pwd=bStsVkF0U1A3VlF6d2x3c3RXVFE1QT09
Meeting ID: 824 3314 4744
Passcode: 902140 - 7-12th grade youth can be recorded doing other readings for the service.
- Pick up head pieces (angels, shepherds, animals) for children on Wednesday, Nov. 25 from 12-6pm at church. These will be used during the Kids Zoom recording session. Call Erica Larson at 612-729-2323 when you arrive. Arrangements will be made if you can’t pick up on Nov. 25.
- Participate in our virtual choir, singing “Go Tell It on the Mountain.” All children and youth are invited to sing, whether or not they are participating in Zoom rehearsals on Thursday nights. You’ll record your children singing and submit videos to Interim Children’s Music Director Nissa Rolf by Monday, Dec. 7.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- DEVICE 1: to record the video (Ex: phone, camera)
- DEVICE 2: a separate device to listen to the music and see the actions (Ex: computer, tablet, another phone)
- They must have headphones or earbuds to listen to the music. It’s best to listen in one ear so that they can hear themselves singing. The music cannot be playing aloud.

Rehearse:
1.Learn and practice the song, then move on to recording.

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT WHEN YOU RECORD:
- Have your child wear a solid color (preferably black, but red, green, and white are also great).
- Record in a quiet room (turn off fans, heaters; silence phones, alarms, etc.). Preferably a space without a lot of reverberation.
- Be aware of the background. Try to find a plain wall or door to record in front of, if possible.
- Remind your children to smile right before and after the recording!
- If you have multiple siblings who want to participate together, they can be in the same video.
- If using a smartphone to record, set it to record in High-Definition (HD):
- Open the Camera App
- Open Settings
- Choose either Video Size or Video Quality
- Select HD 1920x1080 (if you don't have this setting, HD 1280X720)
- Close Settings and Camera App
- In your iPhone settings, select Camera
- Tap Record Video
- Select 1080p HD at 30 fps
