Why we give
We ask members to commit to regular giving for the coming year in support of all ministries and missions. We do this because:
- As Christians, we recognize everything we have comes from God. We're simply sharing these gifts for God’s work in our world.
- Through our tithes and offerings, we demonstrate in a tangible way our love for God, and our neighbors.
- Giving is an expectation of membership. The hope is each person commits a percentage of their income and increase the amount when they're able to.
- Regular giving makes all of these things possible: worship, programs for children, youth, and students, Bible studies, pastoral care and support, mission trips, community service, and building and operational needs.
How to plan for giving
Begin with prayer.
Thank God for your blessings and ask for guidance and discernment.
Assess your income and giving.
Determine your current giving as a percentage of your income.
Set your giving goal.
If you are not currently tithing (giving 10 percent of your income) start with a lower percentage. Plan to increase the percentage each year, growing toward the tithe. The important thing is to begin the spiritual discipline of regular, consistent giving.
Determine your giving method.
Take a look at the ways you can give and select the option that is best for both you and the church.
Worship with gratitude.
As a congregation, we will express our gratitude to God and bless these commitments in our worship.

Contentment: Stewardship 2024
It’s a true joy to share in this community of faith with you. The grace-filled love you share for one another, the commitment you have made to neighbors in need, and the generosity of resources and spirit are truly the heartbeat of Lake Nokomis Lutheran. Prayerfully consider the gifts you’re able to give in 2024.
Grace and peace to you in abundance,
