JULY OBSERVANCES
Disability Pride Month Disability Pride Month is celebrated every July and is an opportunity to honor the history, achievements, experiences, and struggles of the disability community. Why July? It marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), landmark legislation that broke down barriers to inclusion in society. People with disabilities deserve to live full, self-determined lives, just like everyone else. Yet discrimination persists for the 1 in 4 U.S. adults living with a disability. That’s why we spotlight inspiring stories in July and beyond that show what’s possible with inclusion. |
OPEN YOUR HEART SUMMER CHALLENGE JULY 1-31
Minnehaha Food Shelf is fortunate to once again be a beneficiary of the Open Your Heart Summer Challenge Grant. Sponsored by Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Hunger Solutions Minnesota/The Food Group, this 15th-annual fundraising program provides participating Minnesota food shelves with the opportunity to match a portion of all donations collected during July. “Rising food costs and the sunsetting of pandemic-era programs are really impacting folks right now, and we’re seeing that at food shelves.” Check out the links above for more information.
