Serve: Supporting the beloved community

During this time of physical distancing, there are number of ways we can continue to be God's hands in our community and the world.

Minnehaha Food Shelf: The food shelf has continued to serve neighbors during the pandemic, following rigorous cleaning routines, streamlining procedures, moving to outside distribution, wearing face masks, and following the 6-foot social distancing guideline.

Volunteer options are Tuesdays from 10 a.m.–12:30 p.m. or 12:30–3 p.m. Work two shifts per month or more often if you choose. Can you help?
To either volunteer or donate, click here. Or make a gift through LNL.

Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative: Our congregation has been actively involved in affordable housing issues since 2007 when we began working with Beacon to build Riverview Apartments for low-income elders. As a collaborating congregation, we:
  • support families with children experiencing homeless, and
  • advocate for policies and funding so that all people have a home.

To financially support this important work, make a gift directly to Beacon or through Lake Nokomis Lutheran.

South Minneapolis Meals on Wheels: Coordinators Andrea Bolstad and Linda Ojeda, and a team of LNL volunteers deliver meals and show hospitality to seniors every nine weeks! To support Meals on Wheels financially, click here. To help out the LNL team, email Andrea Bolstad.

Loaves & Fishes: Our congregation has a long history of supporting this crucial program. If you’re interested in volunteering or financially supporting their Meals-to-Go program, check out their website for more information.
